Day Wise Itinerary Details:

Package Name: GANGTOK – NORTH SIKKIM
Duration: 5D – 4N
Ex. NJP/IXB TO NJP/IXB

DAY 1: NJP TO GANGTOK
Upon arrival at Bagdogra Airport (IXB), or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP), or Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus (Junction), our official will welcome you and assist with your onward journey to Gangtok, approximately 135 kilometers away (3-4 hours drive). Gangtok, perched at an altitude of 1,437 meters (4,715 feet), is a captivating destination for those seeking tranquility, adventure, and cultural immersion. Known for its monasteries, mystic rituals, vibrant festivals, and rare orchids and butterflies, it’s one of India’s top tourist spots. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll around M G Marg and the local market. Overnight stay in Gangtok.
DAY 2: GANGTOK TO LACHEN
The vehicle will depart for North Sikkim with the necessary permits from Vajra Stand at 10:30 AM. Drive towards Lachen, with Chungthang being approximately 96 kilometers from Gangtok. En route, make a stop at Chungthang, then continue the journey for another 29 kilometers to Lachen. Arrive in Lachen by late afternoon or early evening. Due to its remoteness and weather conditions, the infrastructure may be basic, with occasional snowfall or rainfall, but the destination is truly worth visiting. Check into your hotel, enjoy a welcome tea, and spend the evening at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Lachen.
DAY 3: LACHEN TO LACHUNG
The route for the day is Lachen to Gurudongmar Lake and back to Lachen. Drive 55 kilometers from Lachen, stopping at 15,000 feet for the permit to be signed. Continue the journey and visit Gurudongmar Lake, located at an altitude of nearly 15,800 feet, with the Lachen Chu river flowing through the valley. This sacred lake is one of the most revered Buddhist pilgrimage sites. It remains frozen in winter, except for a stretch of water that stays liquid even at temperatures as low as -20°C. The region is typically snow-covered from December to April, resembling a cold desert area bordering Tibet/China. After returning to Lachen, enjoy lunch, and then drive to Lachung. Overnight stay at the hotel in Lachung.
DAY 4: LACHUNG TO GANGTOK Via YUMTHANG
After an early morning breakfast, drive to Yumthang Valley, located 25 kilometers away (approximately 2 hours). This valley, situated at an altitude of 11,800 feet, is where the Lachung Chu river flows. Known as the Valley of Flowers, it is generally covered with snow from December to April and extends into a cold desert region leading up to Tibet/China. The area is beautifully blanketed with snow and surrounded by rhododendron forests. Guests can spend a few hours exploring Yumthang. Return to the hotel for lunch or enjoy a packed lunch. Afterward, proceed to Gangtok, a 130-kilometer drive (approximately 5 hours). Upon arrival, drop off at Vajra Stand and check into the hotel for the night.
DAY 5: BACK TO NJP/IXB
Start the day with an early morning breakfast and drive to Siliguri, en route to Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP). The journey is approximately 130 kilometers and takes 4 to 5 hours. Expect some busy roads with frequent traffic jams. The scenic drive follows the River Teesta, and a tea break at Jorethang, Chitrey, or Melli is recommended. If time permits, make a brief stop at the Coronation Bridge. The route passes through areas of natural beauty. Optional rafting is available along the way, though most operators are unregistered, so it is advised to avoid it. To ensure a smooth trip, guests are encouraged to start early, drive at a relaxed pace, and plan their forwarding journey accordingly.
